are eliminating textbooks. This does not have a big impact in pre-school years.
The book recommends using wikis to use collaborative writing.
Wikis can be used in pre-schools or child care.
Parents with children usually want to know what their children are learning. If
the parents let the child watch them use and respond on the Internet, students
will be familiar with wikis when they enter school. Parents would be able to be
involved using the wiki. Teachers do not realize how well this web 2.0 tool
could be used in instruction.
A small change that I could make to my classroom, even pre-school, would be to start a blog. It would be a great way for students and parents to
be able to keep up with what is going on at school. I believe parents are more likely to read something on their
computer rather than a handout that will probably end up getting lost.
Important events and curriculum topics could be posted. In the online article
“A Day in the Life of Web 2.0,” it mentions that the teacher has an updated blog.
The teacher put “how, what, and why” things are being taught. I like this
because it gives reasons to learning that are easily accessible online for anyone.
